Girlfriend of Mongols MC member Mark Sandery avoids jail for hiding sem-automatic rifle in parents’ home

THE girlfriend of Mongols Motorcycle Club sergeant-at-arms Mark Sandery has avoided a prison term for gun charges.

Jemma Caroline Trevean was convicted of offences including possessing a firearm without a licence after police found a sawnoff semi-automatic rifle and silencer hidden inside a cupboard at her parents’ house in December 2011.

District Court judge Gordon Barrett said he and the jury rejected Trevean’s claims at trial that she knew nothing of the gun.

“I am satisfied beyond reasonable doubt that you secreted the firearm and the silencer in your parents’ wardrobe on behalf of someone you knew,” he said.

“In all likelihood I think that person was Mark Sandery or fellow members of the Finks Outlaw Motorcycle Gang, of which he was then a member. He is now the Sergeant-at-arms of the Mongols Motorcycle Gang.”

New plan to tackle motorcycle gangs: Justice minister

The minister of Security and Justice, Ivo Opstelten (VVD) wants to tackle motorcycle clubs within the current law, if there is sufficient grounds for this to be possible.

Outrightly banning biker clubs is not possible, as club formation is not against the law, but the minister does say that there is enough room within legislation to tackle motorcycle clubs in the Netherlands. He said this after discussions with the police, the Public Prosecution Authority (OM), the national strategic discussion outlawbikers and several mayors, Elsevier reports.

“As government we cannot and do not want to tolerate this”, Opstelten says. “The aim is to tacke these gangs and the law gives us that ability.”

"Dob in a bikie"

Police are asking the WA public to "dob in a bikie".

They've organised a special  phone-in day hoping that people will call with information about bikies involved in violent crime, drugs, firearms and prostitution.

Callers can remain anonymous.

Assistant Commissioner Craig Ward said: "The public can help us in this fight and they can do so without fear of being identified.

The phone-in day will happen on May 20.

As well as stopping crime the police want to stop the bikie gangs recruiting new members. They're urging people who have a loved-one who is considering becoming a bikie to let the police know.

Assistant Commissioner Ward said: "Bikies are the primary movers of crystal meth in WA, then there is the extortion and the violence. Do you really want to see your family member go down this path? We would implore family members to come forward now before their love one gets too involved."

No DNA or prints found to link Chalue to murders, witnesses say

SPRINGFIELD -- No DNA or fingerprint evidence linked David Chalue to the murder of three Pittsfield men, according to testimony Wednesday in Hampden Superior Court.

Trooper Michael O’Neil told the jury in Chalue’s murder trial that he was unable to get any fingerprints or only partial, unusable prints, from most of the evidence tested in the case. This included a gun cleaning kit taken from the Hells Angels clubhouse in Lee and a Jack Daniels whiskey bottle found at the Daniel Cole property in Becket, where the remains of David Glasser, Edward Frampton and Robert Chadwell were discovered, he said.

The plastic bags in which the remains were found were covered in soil and other debris and were oily, said the witness, and he was unable to get any prints from them.

According to O’Neil, there are several factors that can prevent fingerprint evidence from being obtained, from the presence of water to the type of surface that was touched.
