Police: 6 motorcycle club members indicted in double murder case

(video)--COWETA COUNTY, Ga. - Coweta County authorities believe they now have the people responsible for a double murder in custody.

Police arrested six members of a motorcycle club in connection with the shooting deaths of two women. Officers say they uncovered disturbing evidence inside the group's clubhouse.

FOX 5's Doug Evans spoke with neighbors who live near the former Newnan club house of the Iron Cross Motorcycle Club.  They are too frightened to go on TV and say it, but they applaud the law enforcement crackdown on the alleged gang and the raid that led to the closing of the club house.

If this house was once a motorcycle club house of a gang dedicated to crime and affiliated with hate groups, it's clear that it is not now.

Murder trial expert explains ‘one-percenter’ biker gang culture

Colors, monikers, allies, rivalries, one-percenters, cuts.

Those were among the terms jurors in the murder trial of three alleged biker gangsters heard Wednesday as a Georgia gang expert testified for the prosecution.

The witness was A. Charles Lyda, a gang investigator for the Cobb County District Attorney, called to Columbus to analyze evidence in the case against Daginald Wheeler, Demark Ponder and James Daniel Jr., each allegedly associated with the Outcast Motorcycle Club that invaded a rival group’s Oct. 9, 2015, gathering where one man fatally was shot.

Lyda testified the evidence was consistent with biker gang culture: Testimony showed the Strikers Motorcycle Club hosted a meet-and-greet at the 4th Quarter Sports Bar, 6959 Macon Road, where the Outcasts assaulted the Strikers’ president and stole his club vest, the “colors” signifying his position.

Biker claims self-defense in fatal 2015 gang shootout at Macon Road bar

One of three men charged with murder in what police say was a motorcycle gang shootout at a Macon Road sports bar testified he fired in self-defense after he was threatened.

Demark Ponder was seeking immunity from prosecution for acting in self-defense when he took the witness stand Tuesday in Judge Bobby Peters’ court. He and two others are charged in the Oct. 9, 2015, fatal shooting of Dominic Mitchell at the 4th Quarter Sports Bar, 6969 Macon Road.

Ponder, 48, said he was a pledge or probationary member of the Outcast motorcycle club when he joined seven others in a ride to the bar, where a brawl broke out inside.

He could not see what caused the fight, he said: “It was kind of dark in there, poorly lit.”

It was during this brawl that a man he didn’t know pointed a gun at him and threatened to shoot, calling him a racial slur. “I’m going to kill you, n----r,’ he said the man told him.
